The Chinese Ambassador (Wei) to the Secretary of State

Sir: I have the honor to inform you that the Central Executive Committee of the Kuomintang at a session on September 13, 1943, unanimously elected Generalissimo Chiang Kai Shek to be the Chairman of the National Government of the Republic of China. The date of his formal assumption of office will be announced later.46
