Supplementing my No. 41, April 27, 7 p.m. As pointed out in my No. 34, April 24, 6 p.m. both Sikorski and Raczynski originally intended to couch the Polish Government’s reply (Polish note of April 21) to Eden’s note of April 17 in more conciliatory tone than that adopted by Sikorski in his letter of April 16. However, the mood of the Polish National Council during its session of April 21 was such that Sikorski and Raczynski found it necessary to take a strong line.
