1071. My 1005, April 19. The Foreign Office has asked me to convey a message to you to the effect that the statement made on April 19 in the House of Commons by the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Mr. Butler in regard to the Netherlands [Page 13] East Indies is being repeated this afternoon in more precise and detailed form to the Japanese Ambassador in London as an expression of the British Government’s views.
