220. Recent developments affecting Greenland which have taken place through the Department’s cooperation are:

(1)
The United States Coast Guard Cutter Northland is now off Julianehaab and will sail shortly to visit settlements on the East Coast of Greenland as far north as Angmagssalik. At the request of the Greenland authorities she is carrying food and medical supplies as well as a Greenland official who desires to make this trip.
(2)
At the request of the Greenland authorities we have given them assistance in obtaining the services of a limited number of qualified American citizens to be employed by the Ivigtut Mine Company as police. These men have already sailed for Ivigtut.
