269. A United Press despatch, dated yesterday, from New York states that Penteado, Financial Attaché to the Brazilian Embassy, has been invited to confer with the Secretary of the Treasury today. The despatch speculates that the conference will deal with the remittance of exchange for exports of American merchandise to Brazil.

I would greatly appreciate any information the Department can furnish regarding this matter.
