The Consul General at Canton (Linnell) to the Secretary of State

4. Two cars with Japanese officers and two lorries with Japanese troops came to British and French bridges of Shameen at 2 p.m. today. Japanese officers saluted and shook hands with the British Concession Chief of Police and then went on to the city. Planes are flying low covering the entry.
