20. Personal for Murray.^3a The death of the Foreign Minister⁴ may delay reopening of the Iranian Legation in Washington several months. He had taken great personal interest and had almost succeeded in persuading the Shah when he was taken ill. No immediate appointment of a successor is likely and while other members of the Cabinet are also favorably disposed they are too timid to discuss the subject with His Majesty.
