326. Embassy’s 325, June 25, 9 a.m.43 In an interview at the Foreign Office this afternoon the following points respecting the German note of June 24 were brought out.
- 1.
- The Foreign Office hopes that when publicity is given to its note that the text will not be published but rather that the contents will be divulged in the form of information received from the German Government.
- 2.
- The Foreign Office again orally confirmed the interpretation that the German Government would not require the registration of property of Jews now of American nationality resident outside of Germany provided they had not emigrated from Germany since January 30, 1933 for political reasons. In reply to a question of what determined a “political emigrant” it was stated that “probably all Jewish emigrants since January 30, 1933” would be so classified although this was not given as a final answer.
