The Paris editor of the New York Herald Tribune, commenting upon the report that Blum had acceded to the Radical Socialist demand [Page 269] for rejection of exchange control, added that “a reliable source said last night pressure from the Treasury Department in Washington had helped him to make up his mind”.
We have received inquiries regarding this story and have replied that it is absurd.
There is no mention of the story in the French press.
