[Received May 30—1:23 p.m.]
17. Referring to Department’s telegram No. 11, May 28, 3 p.m., Department’s attention is invited to despatch number 54, of January 29th. In proposing to enter into negotiations for a trade agreement the Government of Ireland has agreed to accept the principle of unconditional most-favored-nation treatment applicable to all forms of trade and payments control and referred to the trade convention of 181513 based on most-favored-nation treatment to show that this policy has long been in effect between our two countries.
