Reuter publishes late this afternoon despatch under Tientsin date line that “Japanese military headquarters at Tientsin state that the total Japanese casualties in the Wanping area since fighting began on Wednesday–Thursday60 night are 18 killed and 40 wounded”.

The same release states that “four demands are being presented to the Chinese authorities by the Japanese in consequence of the incidents in the Wanping area. They are: (1) the withdrawal of Chinese troops from the vicinity of Marco Polo Bridge; (2) punishment of those responsible for the incidents; (3) adequate control of anti-Japanese activities in North China; (4) enforcement of anti-Communist measures.

An official of the local Japanese Embassy stated to this Embassy that he believes an agreement is near.
