[Received July 19—5:45 p.m.]
1007. Reference to my telegram No. 1006, July 19, 6 [7] p.m.5 I am not quite certain what sort of reply you wish me to obtain from the French Government.
Do the words “keeping alive and making effective the principles featured in the statement” mean that you would like to have a definite proposal from the French Government which might be the basis for action?
Delbos, Blum and Chautemps6 are lunching with me en famille on Wednesday July 21 and I should appreciate a confidential instruction.
