The Secretary of State to the Argentine Minister for Foreign Affairs (Saavedra Lamas)
I have received Your Excellency’s courteous telegram of June 28th55 in which you inform me of the desire of His Excellency the President of the Argentine Nation to convoke a Peace Conference for the purposes expressed in the protocol signed June 12th. The President of the United States has asked me to express his appreciation of this invitation and to inform you that he hereby appoints the Honorable Hugh Gibson, American Ambassador to Brazil, as delegate of the United States of America to the Peace Conference.
At the same time the President desires me to inform you of his gratification at the progress thus far made in the interests of peace and of his wishes for the successful outcome of the Conference.
I extend to Your Excellency the assurances of my highest and most distinguished consideration.
