264. Following from Hankow:
“June 12 [11?] 5 p.m. Band of Communist bandits reported operating on Hupeh-Honan border in the vicinity of Tungpeh and westward including Tenghsien. Members of Lutheran Brethren Mission have left Tungpeh and telegram received today from Woodstock, Lutheran United Mission at Tenghsien, sent in response to my inquiry, states she is leaving by first bus. Not known at present whether these departures due to the bandits”.
