Your 289, October 30, 7 p.m.40 It is currently believed among American bankers and businessmen that the Chinese Government plans to attach the Chinese dollar to the customs gold unit, at a rate of Chinese dollars 2.50 for one gold unit. Mackay of National City Bank told me that he believed the Chinese Government wanted to sell its silver holdings to the United States for gold, with above end possibly in view.
