The Chargé in Spain ( Johnson ) to the Secretary of State

No. 805

Sir: With reference to the Embassy’s despatch No. 675 of February 27th last, I have the honor to report that upon the receipt of a copy of Mr. Blake’s despatch to the Department, No. 1070 of June 17th,35 entitled “Discriminatory Passport Regulations in Spanish Zone of Morocco”, I took up this discrimination again with the Foreign Office and have received a Note, dated July 1,35 in reply to my representations, a copy and translation of which are enclosed herewith. This Note states that instructions have been sent to the Spanish Consul General in Tangier in order that the presentation of two photographs by American tourists desiring a visa may be no longer necessary.

Respectfully yours,

Hallett Johnson
