The American Delegate (Wilson) to the Secretary of State
[Received March 19—2:25 p.m.]
1017. London’s 91, March 5, 6 p.m. Jean Paul-Boncour told Mayer this morning that the French Government had made a strong representation at London last week to the British Government with regard to the achievement of the treaty of limited objectives now under discussion at Geneva. The French Government underlined the importance to it of such a treaty in the progress toward and as a very important part of a general convention. Among others Corbin56 had a long talk with Eden. The latter as was the case with others in the British Government gave Corbin no satisfaction whatsoever, standing entirely on the present British position without the slightest indication of a possibility of alteration of viewpoint.
Repeated to London.
