My 466, January 15, 8 p.m. On further consideration, we think it advisable for you to seek a clarification of the situation through a frank talk with Eden.13 After speaking to him along the lines authorized in our 466, you might add a reference to the unfortunate repercussions in the United States of any delay in dealing with a [Page 4] problem in which the American public and the American Congress are particularly interested at this time.
