The Consul at Geneva (Gilbert) to the Secretary of State

551. Consulate’s 498, October 14, 6 p.m.16

1.
Ekstrand17 has now communicated to all members of the Advisory Committee a note in the form of document O C 1612 A covering the following points:
(a)
In view of the replies received as indicated in my telegram under reference the chairman of the Advisory Committee has decided to cancel the autumn session.
(b)
The majority of the members have raised no objection to the date of March 14 for the next session. Nevertheless, others have called attention to inconveniences and disadvantages of that date. In view of the latter considerations Ekstrand in agreement with the Chairman now suggests that the 21st session should begin on May 15 and the seizures subcommittee on May 7.
(c)
The members of the Committee are requested to inform the Director of the Opium Section before December 15 whether they agree to these dates.
