Your No. 130, December 30, 11 a.m. You may say to the Brazilian Government that any solution of the Leticia matter which is acceptable to both Colombia and Peru will be learned of with the greatest pleasure and satisfaction by this Government. This Government is glad to learn that the Brazilian Government is taking an active interest in trying to find a solution to the matter.
[Page 314]Colombian Minister had been advised of this proposal by his Government and inquired of White this afternoon regarding his views. He was told that this Government of course would be glad of any solution satisfactory to both countries and expressed the hope that the Colombian Government would examine any proposal with greatest care to see whether it offered a satisfactory way out.
