“June 2, 4 p.m. In conversation June 1, 5 p.m., Vice Minister Hsu Mo said that the Ministry was anxious to receive a reply from the Department indicating whether the postponement of the indemnity [Page 618] could now be considered settled and in this connection he referred to the views expressed to me in previous interviews (see my telegram May 25, 6 p.m.).”
