The Secretary of State to the Chinese Chargé (Yen)

The Secretary of State presents his compliments to the Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of China and acknowledges with thanks the receipt of his note of June 4, 1932,62 stating that a cablegram was received on that day from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nanking to the effect that Captain Charles Baker had been released. The Department of State is gratified at the safe release of this American [Page 519] citizen and is appreciative of efforts to that end put forth by the Chinese Government and its agencies.
