He states that he is suffering from intense cold and lack of proper furnishings and that he is becoming very weak. His captors have reduced the price of his release to $50,000. The Ichang agent of the Yangtze Rapid Steamship Company is now on board the Panay at Mopanshih negotiating with the Communists for Baker’s release.
