246. Referring to my telegram No. 245, May 16, noon, and other telegrams regarding the evacuation by the Japanese and resumption of control of the area by the Chinese:
- 1.
- The Japanese have informed the Chinese that Tazang will be evacuated at 1 o’clock May 17th and requested the Chinese to establish contact today.
- 2.
- The personnel of the committee for the reestablishment of control of the evacuated area has been notified to the Japanese.
- 3.
- The Chinese have requested the Japanese to evacuate the railway lines concerned so that they may be repaired and operation resumed.
