393.115 Radio Corporation of America/18: Telegram

The Consul General at Shanghai (Cunningham) to the Secretary of State

179. Department’s telegram No. 69, March 3, 10 a.m., regarding radio station. Withdrawal of Chinese forces has left radio station well within Japanese military lines. I understand chief question now is repair of power lines and connections with radio central office in Settlement. On March 5th and March 7th at request of Shecklen I made representations to Japanese Consul General asking that facilities be accorded to enable these repairs to be made as rapidly as possible. [Page 562] Shecklen informs me that Japanese are granting such facilities for repair work as could reasonably be expected under the circumstances. He is keeping Radio Corporation fully informed.

Not repeated to the Legation. Copy to the Minister.
