306. Following from American Consul General, Mukden: [Page 518]
“March 4, 5 p.m. Chao, Mayor of Mukden, in a press interview today, stated that Chang Ching-hui would go to Tangkangtze, 60 miles south of Mukden on the 7th where he will meet ex-Emperor Hsuan-tung who is to be brought for this purpose from Port Arthur, and make the third request that he ‘resume the post’. Chao stated that it is expected he must accept the proposal and that he will proceed to Changchun where the installation ceremony will take place on the 9th. The 10th, 11th, 12th will be declared holidays throughout the provinces.”
