125. Elections were orderly. Decisive majority in favor of Montero assures political quiet for the time being. Alessandri announces that he accepts verdict. Under the Constitution Montero will assume the Presidency on November 24th but he may immediately resume executive power which he turned over temporarily as reported in my [Page 918] telegram 96, August 21, 4 p.m. In that case the Cabinet will be reorganized.
