110. The fleet has returned to Coquimbo after capturing a Chilean commercial vessel carrying some supplies. All coastwise traffic has [Page 914] been suspended and Valparaiso is filled with troops. Our consular office reports no damage to American commercial interests as a result of the fighting in Talcahuano. The Government has called for volunteers and certain reserve officers have been ordered to report for duty.
