The Minister in Nicaragua (Hanna) to the Secretary of State

[114.] My June 12, 6 p.m. The Nicaraguan Senate approved yesterday the majority report on the Nicaragua-Honduras boundary protocol. A copy of the report is not yet available, but I understand it made radical changes in the protocol. President Moncada has been in Masaya supporting the efforts of the administration to obtain favorable action, and I am informed that the form in which the protocol was approved represents the best compromise obtainable and that otherwise the protocol would have been rejected. The impression here is that Chamber of Deputies will approve the action of the Senate.

I will report further as soon as I have reliable particulars.

Repeated to Tegucigalpa.
