Legation’s 135, September 17, 6 p.m. Yesterday when the Financial Committee met it was suddenly found that the Committee was in a position to conclude its work, and an adjournment took place after a meeting held late at night. The Financial Committee members have left. Out of consideration for the apprehensions set forth in the Department’s 108, September 16, 4 p.m., Davis took no action to cause the adoption of the silver resolution.
Davis sails for home at the end of this week and will discuss matter with you in detail upon arrival.
