The Egyptian Chargé (Aly Ismail Bey) to the Acting Secretary of State
Excellency: I have the honour to inform Your Excellency that the Royal Egyptian Government has definitely accepted today the suspension of her part in the German reparations, in conformity with the plan of President Hoover. Inspired by its duties of international solidarity, the Government submitted that acceptance to both Houses, namely the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, which welcomed the motion by unanimous applause.
[Page 203]I am particularly gratified to inform Your Excellency, also, that the Leaders of the different parties in the Chamber of Deputies, including the Leader of the opposition, supported the Government and congratulated themselves for such an opportunity as would permit Egypt to prove its desire to share in the general cooperation towards peace and economic stability.
