The Ambassador in Great Britain (Dawes) to the Secretary of State

Sir: I have the honor to report that in an official reply to a question in the House of Commons on November 19, 1928, the Under [Page 716] Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs stated that after a careful review of all the issues involved, and having regard to the friendly relations existing between the two countries, His Majesty’s Government have decided to waive the British claim to Bouvet Island in favor of Norway.
