The Chief of the American Delegation at the Meeting of the Advisory Committee on Traffic in Opium (Porter) to the Secretary of State

Statement of position71 with cabled addition in support of resolutions numbers one and two72 delivered this morning. Bishop Brent made a forceful and brilliant statement preceding my statement of the United States position.73 He discussed the moral aspects of the opium traffic and called upon the nations to suppress it without regard to the revenue derived therefrom, referring to our course in the Philippines.
