The Chilean Ambassador ( Mathieu ) to the Secretary of State

Mr. Secretary: I have the honor to forward to Your Excellency the case of Chile in the dispute over the unfulfilled stipulations of the Treaty of Ancón that was referred to the decision of His Excellency the President of the United States of America by the Protocol [Page 369] signed at Washington by the Plenipotentiaries of Chile and Peru on July 20, 1922.

The accompaniments to the present communication include the case itself, which consists of 187 pages,65 and a book of 764 pages containing English translations of documents.66

The case appears to be signed by Messrs. Carlos Aldunate S. and Ernesto Barros, Agents of the Government of Chile, and Messrs. Robert Lansing and L. H. Woolsey, in their capacity as counsel.

I venture to beg Your Excellency kindly to see that the above mentioned documents reach His Excellency the President of the United States of America.
