President Wilson to the Acting Secretary of State
Washington,
October 22, 1914.
My Dear Mr. Lansing: I quite agree with you that the only course to take in the matter of the tank steamer Brindilla and in other similar cases is to make an immediate and vigorous protest against the action of the British authorities in seizing an American vessel bound to a neutral port.
In haste
Cordially and faithfully yours,
Woodrow Wilson
