The Danish Minister to the Secretary of State.

[Translation.]

Mr. Secretary of State: By order of my Government I have the honor to request your excellency to kindly use your good offices for the purpose of having the certificates of value accompanying products imported from Denmark into the United States and issued by the “Kjöbenhavns Grosserer Societets Komite” (Committee of the Wholesale Merchants’ Association of Copenhagen) recognized by the American customs officials in the same way as similar certificates from German chambers of commerce and certain Eussian chambers of commerce are recognized, by virtue of the commercial agreement between the United States and Germany and of the letter of March 31 last sent to the customs authorities of New York by the Treasury Department.

While having the honor to submit this proposition to your excellency, I place myself entirely at your disposal in case any further information is necessary in order to comply with the desire of my Government.

Please accept, etc.,

C. Brun.
