Sir: Referring to the Department’s No. 576, of the 24th ultimo, so far as it relates to the claim of Messrs. Bauriedel & Co., agents of certain American tobacco importing houses, to be allowed to export from Cuba tobacco purchased before the date of the Governor-General’s prohibitory decrees, I now inclose copy of a later dispatch1 from our consul-general at Habana transmitting the evidence furnished by the claimants to prove their case.
