Instructions in telegram of 2d anticipated and executed. Nine hundred just killed between Ourfa and Aintab. Road is not safe for Miss Shattuck, who wires she is well, but distressed. Porte declares missionary [Page 1444] statement that soldiers pillaged boarding school at Marash to be calumny, and says missionaries sent address of thanks for protection there afforded. It may have been sent, for the poor men were in fearful duress.
