Sir: Referring to the claim of the Hydrographic Commission of the Amazon,
I have the honor to report that as the ordinary session of

Congress opens to-morrow, I
have this day placed a note in the hands of his excellency Senor Manuel
Candamo, minister for foreign relations of Peru, regarding this
long-pending claim of citizens of the United States upon the Peruvian
Government, and respectfully asking his excellency to have the claim
presented to this Congress for its early consideration, as per my
inclosed note.

Mr. Minister: I would again respectfully
call the attention of your excellency to the many notes from this
legation regarding the payment of the long-pending claim of citizens
of the United States upon the Government of Peru known as the
Hydrographic Commission of the Amazon, and in view of the opening
to-morrow (the 30th instant) of the ordinary session of Congress, I
would respectfully ask if your excellency will have the claim
presented to this Congress for its early consideration.
