Mr. Adee to Mr. Hicks.

No. 227.]

Sir: I have received Mr. Neill’s dispatch No. 411, of the 3d ultimo, in regard to the claim of the Hydrographic Commission of the Amazon.

Now that the Peruvian Congress is again in session, the Department hopes to secure intelligence that this admittedly just and long-standing claim may be satisfactorily disposed of.

You will accordingly continue your efforts to that end.

I am, etc.,

Alvey A. Adee,
Acting Secretary.
