Sir: I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 15th instant, stating the opinions of the attorney-general of Colorado and of the district judge in regard to the Walsenburg lynching, that a grand jury drawn from any other county than Huerfano would not have jurisdiction.
I have transmitted copies of your letter and its inclosure to the Italian ambassador.
