Washington, May 18, 1895.
Sir: Referring to the Department’s instruction to you, No. 62, of the 28th of February last, relative to obtaining certain facilities for the Peary Arctic expedition to visit Greenland in July next, I inclose for your information a copy of a letter of the 16th instant,1 from Mrs. Josephine D. Peary, stating that the steam whaler Kite, Captain Ash, master, has been chartered for the expedition, and that the vessel will sail from St. Johns, Newfoundland, about the 1st of July next.
I will thank you to convey this information to the Danish Government.
