Sir: I have the honor to acknowledge the communication of your excellency, of yesterday’s date, in which your excellency is pleased to express to me the wish that the Government of Chile should adhere to [Page 220] the provisions for the preservation of the fur seal made by the Arbitration Tribunal created by the treaty of February 29, 1892, and that it should adopt the legislative measures requisite to that end.

In reply I hasten to inform your excellency that I forward without delay to my Government both your excellency’s communication and the accompanying documents.
