Sir: Referring to the Department’s note of the 29th ultimo, in regard to the evidence requested by the Italian Government for use on the trial of Giuseppe Bevivino and Yincenzo Villella, I have the honor to state that the district attorney of Luzerne County has reported to the governor of Pennsylvania that he is now trying to find two witnesses whose testimony can not be dispensed with, and that after they have been found and their testimony taken he hopes to rapidly conclude the matter.
