Sir: I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your note of the 17th instant, with reference to the designs of persons resident in the United States at the present time, against the Government of Spain, and alluding to the collector of customs at Key West, as joining in a demonstration reflecting on your Government, on the occasion of Agüero’s discharge. Observing that I have communicated with the proper departments on the subjects of your note, I improve the occacasion, &c.
