No. 157.
Mr. Frelinghuysen to Mr. Roustan.

Sir: With reference to previous correspondence on the subject, I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your note of the 4th ultimo, giving an account of the provision which has been made for the administration of justice in Tunis, and requesting in consequence the abandonment of the claim to extraterritorial privileges for American citizens in that country.

In reply, I have to inform you that this matter is now pending in Congress, and that your note and its accompanying papers will be submitted at the next session.

Accept, &c.,
