Sir: I have the honor to inform you that a
treaty of friendship, commerce and navigation, was, on the 12th day of
January last, concluded between his Majesty the King of Denmark and his
Majesty the Tycoon of Japan.
I enclose (No. 1) a copy of a communication sent me by D. de Graeff Yon
Polsbroeck, esq., his Netherlandish Majesty’s political agent and consul
general in Japan, who acted on the part and in behalf of the King of
Denmark, and (No. 2) a copy of an official notification received by me
from the Gorogio, both of which enclosures announce the conclusion of
the treaty.
