Mr. Seward to Mr. Hale

No. 12.]

Sir: Your despatches from No. 36 to No. 40, both numbers inclusive, have been received, and have been read with special interest. The department has promulgated the information communicated by you relative to the ravages of the cholera in Egypt, the violence of which, we are happy to learn, has sensibly abated. The completion of the tables of mortality already forwarded by you will be received with much interest.

I am, sir, your obedient servant,

WILLIAM H. SEWARD.

Charles Hale, Esq., &c., &c., Alexandria.
