Mr. Hunter to Mr. Morris
Sir: I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your despatches from No. 110 to No. 115, inclusive, the latter bearing date May 18. The accounts they furnish of the effect, produced in the Turkish capital by the intelligence of [Page 297] the President’s assassination and the attempt upon the life of Mr. Seward have been read with great interest and gratification. Your proceedings in connexion with this subject are fully approved.
I am, sir, your obedient servant,
E. Joy Morris, Esq., &c., &c., &c., Constantinople.
