Sir: I have received your interesting despatch of January 14, No. 31, and have read with much pleasure the account it gives of your conversation with various members of the diplomatic corps, on a recent occasion, at the residence of the Austrian ambassador to Rome.
Your proceedings, on receiving by telegraph the substance of the note of this department, relative to the capture of the Florida in the harbor of Bahia, are approved.
